We ask that you contact us by October 27 to ensure we have all information together. A candle will be lit on November 2nd in memory and there will also be time in prayer, when each of the saints/ loved ones will be remembered by name.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

Help our Confirmands share the spirit of Thanksgiving by providing items to supply 20 family meal boxes that they’ll pack and deliver this holiday season.   We ask that you sign up on the provided sheets at the Gathering Desk.  Very specific items are needed and once all is collected (please bring donations  to the Gathering Place) the Confirmation class will be packing up and delivering boxes to select families who are part of LSSI (Lutheran Social Services of IL).  Please see the second page of the  "More for Announcements" attachment for all of the details.  If you have any questions, please contact the office.

FOURTH QUARTER MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

The Fourth Quarter Missions theme is "Feeding/Caring." From October-December you will have the opportunity to make monetary contributions to ELCA World Hunger and Beds+  Please use “Special Offering” envelopes and designate the specific mission OR  CLICK HERE  to give online.  Click “FUND” and then “MISSIONS”  and select the one you'd like to support.

PILGRIM CHURCH FOOD PANTRY- During the month of October we have been sponsoring a food collection for unexpired non-perishable food items from the PILGRIM CHURCH FOOD PANTRY WISH LIST.  We'd like to thank everyone that has already donated, but if you haven't yet, there's still some time left.   Please see the "More for Announcements" attachment for the specific items needed and bring them to the Gathering Place ASAP!

In November the Women of the Church will sponsor the ELCA Thank offering and Bethshan Christmas gifts...

WOMEN of the ELCA THANKOFFERING- Every fall, during church services held the weekend before Thanksgiving, the Women of the Church are asked to make a monetary thank offering. Long time Trinity members may remember small thank offering boxes used to collect the donations. Collecting donations in small offering boxes dates to the early 1800s, when women formed “mite” or “cent” societies to raise money. Mite boxes were given out as fundraising tools to collect pennies for the support of church projects and foreign missionaries. Thankofferings show gratitude for God’s blessings and give us an important and tangible way to express that gratitude. It is a tradition grounded in our celebration of community and of meeting together to joyfully give thanks for what God has given us (Hanson, E. 2010. All About Thankofferings, Retrieved 10/10/2025 from https://www.womenoftheelca.org/filebin/pdf/resources/AllAboutThankofferings.n.pdf). The article is also attached to these announcements.

There are purple-edged envelopes labelled, “Women of the ELCA - ELCA Thankoffering” located in the envelope holders in each pew. Donations will also be gratefully accepted on or before November 23. Simply place the envelope with your donation in the offering plate. Consistent with the greater church, the envelopes marked “ELCA Thankoffering” will be collected during Sunday service on November 23, as described above.

BETHSHAN CHRISTMAS-  We are once again supporting Bethshan by collecting gifts for their residents this Christmas. Keep an eye out for gift tags in the Gathering Place coming soon!

Thank you in advance for your generosity.  We appreciate your continued support!   ~ Women of the Church Board
